Veterans Memorial School Principal Rusty Phillips recently presented certificates to the students who participated in the recent school-wide Geography Bee.

The winners included first runner-up John Torres and second runner-up Nicholas Betancourt. First-place finisher Andreanna Burman no longer attends the school.

“All of the contestants did an excellent job,” Phillips said.

That list included Lois Cheaye, Elizabeth Espinosa, Ivan Quiroz, Jose Rivera, and Julian Thompson. Phillips also thanked students who helped with the contest: Morgan DeWinne, Emily Scanlon, Steven Sotnychuk, and Emily Watts.

The school's social studies teachers are: Mrs. Kathleen Cejkovsky, Mrs. Konstantina Cook, Mr. Robert Cresci, Mr. Bryan Davis, and Mr. Jason Moffitt. Ms. Tamara McGinley, a science teacher, also assisted with the competition.
