The students of Notre Dame Regional School performed The Angelic Christmas under the direction of Karen Jeffer, director and music teacher at Notre Dame.

As pictured on the right, fourth-grade students Mia Panella plays Elizabeth and Morgan Hagerty portrays Mary in a live nativity play.

The play was enjoyed by all students including PK2, PK3 and PK4. It attracted a standing-room only audience.

Melissa Knapp, the school's marketing director, said the Christmas spirit was truly alive at Notre Dame as families and friends joined the children in singing "O Come All Ye Faithful" and "Joy to the World."

The student of third- and fourth-grades all had roles in the live Nativity to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Ronnie Fioresi’s kindergarten class at Notre Dame Regional School joined with family members to give special thanks to the most important people in their lives.

The students along with Fioresi and Ginny Pacilio, their aide, shared a Thanksgiving feast with 80 people to count their blessings of family, faith and school.

Prior to their feast the students entertained their guests by dressing in Indian costumes and singing songs.

Last spring, students at Notre Dame Regional School participated in a statewide poetry contest on recycling.

Councilwoman Patricia Andaloro submitted the poems to the Bureau of Recycling and Planning, according to Melissa Knapp, advancement director.

Brandon Danley was one of 12 winners selected from over 900 poems for his piece titled “Working Together,” and will be honored Oct. 14.

Courtousy of Notre Dame and Brandon, here's a look at his award-winning poem.

WORKING TOGETHER

As I carried old toys, clothes, paper and books

Down to the front of our house on the sidewalk I looked

“Hey Dad”, why throw this away

When we could recycle it to be used another day!

“You’re right” Dad said with a grin.

We can “recycle old things to be made new again.”

So our “trash” became someone’s treasure

And what was reusable we recreated with pleasure

My old toys and clothes went to people in need

Paper and books we recycled in order to save more trees

Dad and I were proud of what we had done

And working together made it more fun.

Students built a volcano to celebrate Science Week at Notre Dame Regional School Summer Camp.

Under the direction of Camp Counselor Lori Bertonazzi, the students started with an array of materials including chicken wire, newspaper, plaster of Paris, baking soda and vinegar, Melissa A. Knapp, school spokeswoman, said.

Campers, ranging from first through fourth grades, carefully conjoined the materials to create a functioning volcano, she said.
